Frequently Asked Questions
What is your current lead time?
Because every holster is custom built to your exact firearm and light configuration, our made-to-order holsters currently have a lead time of approximately 5-7 weeks due to high demand.
However:
Ready-to-Ship Holsters ship within 1–3 business days. These holsters are already built and will ship quickly after purchase.
If you need a custom holster sooner, we also offer a Rush Order option that guarantees shipment within 10 business days.
Are your holsters custom made?
Yes. Every IKC Holster is custom built to your exact firearm and light configuration.
We do not mass produce universal-fit holsters. Each holster is precision formed using custom CNC molds that are designed and manufactured in-house to ensure superior fit, consistency, and retention.
Because we control our mold production internally, we are able to maintain tight tolerances and deliver a higher level of quality than generic off-the-shelf molding systems.
Each holster is built specifically for:
• Your exact firearm model
• Your exact light or laser attachment
• Right or left-hand orientation
• Selected print or color
• Chosen carry style (IWB, OWB, Level 2, Competition, etc.)
No shortcuts. No universal fits. Just precision-built holsters made for your setup.
Do you offer light-bearing holsters?
Yes — we specialize in light-bearing holsters.
We support many popular weapon lights including:
• Streamlight
• Olight
• Holosun
• Viridian
• Nightstick
• And more
If you don’t see your specific firearm and light combination listed, please contact us and we will let you know if we can support your setup.
Do you offer custom prints and colors?
Yes — this is one of the things we are known for.
We offer a wide variety of options including:
• Vibrant solid colors
• Custom camo patterns
• Limited edition drops
• Bold graphic prints
• Specialty finishes
All prints are professionally applied to high-quality Kydex® for durability and long-term use.
We also offer a Custom Print Option. If you would like your own image printed on a holster, please email the image to IKCHolsters@gmail.com for approval prior to placing your order.
Images must be reviewed to ensure print quality and compatibility. Once approved, you may proceed with your custom order.
Do you accept cancellations, returns, or refunds?
All IKC Holsters are custom made to order, so we do not allow cancellations, returns, or refunds.
If you need to request a change to your order, please contact us immediately. However, changes are not guaranteed, as your holster may already be in production.
We strongly encourage all customers to carefully review their firearm model, light selection, color or print choice, and carry style before submitting their order.
Can I adjust retention?
Yes. Our holsters feature adjustable retention screws, allowing you to fine-tune the draw tension to match your personal preference.
This allows you to set the holster for a tighter, more secure hold or a smoother, faster draw, depending on how you prefer to carry and train.
What is a ModWing?
A ModWing (also known as a concealment claw) is an attachment mounted near the trigger guard area of an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster.
When worn with a belt, the ModWing applies inward pressure against the belt, which rotates the grip of the firearm closer to your body. This helps reduce printing and improves concealment.
Benefits of a ModWing include:
• Better concealment
• Reduced grip printing
• More secure positioning during movement
• Improved comfort for appendix carry
Most customers carrying IWB, especially in the appendix position, prefer adding a ModWing for maximum concealment.
What does “slight cant” mean?
“Cant” refers to the angle at which your firearm sits in the holster.
A slight cant means the holster is angled slightly forward (also called a forward cant) rather than sitting completely straight up and down.
This angle can:
• Improve comfort while carrying
• Help the grip sit more naturally against your body
• Make drawing smoother for some carry positions
• Reduce printing depending on body type and carry location
A straight (0°) cant keeps the firearm vertical, while a slight cant provides a subtle forward tilt for improved ergonomics.
If you’re unsure which option to choose, most carriers prefer:
• Straight cant for appendix carry
• Slight forward cant for strong-side hip carry
Do your holsters accommodate suppressor height sights?
Yes. All IKC Holsters are designed to support suppressor height sights.
Our holsters are cut and formed to allow clearance for taller aftermarket sights while maintaining proper fit and retention.
Whether you’re running standard iron sights or suppressor height sights, your holster will accommodate them without issue.
Do your holsters accommodate optics?
Yes. All IKC Holsters are designed to accommodate optics.
Our holsters are cut to allow clearance for red dot sights, including RMR-style and other popular optic platforms. Whether you’re running a factory optics-ready slide or an aftermarket optic, your holster will support it without compromising fit or retention.
What if my gun has a compensator?
We accommodate most standard and aftermarket compensators, as long as the compensator is not wider than the slide.
Our holsters are designed to allow proper clearance for most compensators while maintaining secure retention.
If you are unsure whether your specific compensator will fit, please contact us before placing your order and we will be happy to confirm compatibility.
What is a sweat guard?
A sweat guard is the portion of the holster that extends upward between the firearm and your body.
It helps:
• Protect your firearm from sweat and moisture
• Improve comfort by creating a barrier between the slide and your skin
• Prevent sharp edges from rubbing against your body
At IKC Holsters, we offer three sweat guard options:
Low Sweat Guard
Minimal material coverage for a faster draw and less bulk.
Medium Sweat Guard
Balanced coverage for comfort and protection without interfering with your grip.
High Sweat Guard
Maximum coverage for added comfort and protection against sweat and body contact.
Choosing the right option depends on your comfort preference and carry style.
Do you accommodate a thumb rest?
Yes. We accommodate several different types of thumb rests.
When completing your order form, please upload a clear photo of your thumb rest so we can ensure proper fit and clearance.
If you do not see your specific thumb rest listed, please contact us before placing your order and we will confirm compatibility.
Will my light-bearing holster work without my light attached?
No.
Our light-bearing holsters are designed with the primary retention point built around the weapon light, not just the firearm.
Your light must be attached to your firearm in order for the holster to function properly and maintain correct retention.
Attempting to use a light-bearing holster without the light installed will result in an improper fit and unsafe retention.
Will your holsters work with leggings or without a belt?
Yes.
Our metal clip options are designed to securely attach to leggings, athletic wear, or other clothing without requiring a traditional belt.
These clips provide strong retention and grip, allowing you to carry comfortably even when not wearing a belt.
For best performance, ensure the waistband is snug enough to properly support the weight of your firearm.
Will Kydex® cause wear on my firearm?
Kydex® is a durable, rigid thermoplastic material. As with any holster, normal holster wear should be expected with regular use.
Drawing and reholstering your firearm over time may cause minor cosmetic wear on the finish. This is considered normal and does not affect the function or safety of the firearm.
Holster wear is simply a natural result of consistent training and daily carry.
How do I clean and maintain my Kydex® holster?
Maintaining your Kydex® holster is simple.
To clean:
Remove your firearm from the holster.
Wipe the holster down with a damp cloth to remove dirt or debris.
If needed, apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to maintain a smooth draw.
Regular cleaning helps prevent buildup inside the holster that could cause unnecessary wear on your firearm’s finish.
Do not use harsh chemicals or attempt to modify or reshape the holster.
With proper care, your Kydex® holster will maintain its shape, retention, and performance for years.
Do you offer Staccato holsters?
Yes. We support many popular Staccato models including the Staccato P, C2, CS, XC, and HD series.
Do you make holsters for the Sig P365 Fuse?
Yes. We offer holsters for the Sig P365 Fuse including light-bearing options.
Do you make holsters for Canik pistols?
Yes. We offer holsters for many Canik models including the Canik TTI Combat, TP9 series, Mete series, and Rival.
What is appendix carry?
Appendix carry refers to carrying a firearm in the front waistband position, usually around the 12–1 o’clock position.
Will aftermarket slides fit your holsters?
Many aftermarket slides are compatible, but some custom setups may require additional information before ordering.
Do you support aftermarket grip modules?
Yes. We support many aftermarket grip modules including Icarus Precision, Sharps Bros, Juggernaut, SCT, Strike Industries, Polymer 80 and more.
How do I reduce printing when carrying concealed?
Using a quality appendix holster with concealment features, proper ride height, and a mod wing attachment can help reduce printing.
Are Kydex® Holsters Better Than Leather Holsters?
Kydex® holsters are popular because they offer superior retention, durability, moisture resistance, and consistent reholstering compared to leather holsters. Unlike leather, Kydex® does not soften over time or absorb sweat and humidity, making it an excellent option for concealed carry, duty use, and everyday carry.
